Welcome to Bart’s Barometer!
I’ve been posting and participating on the web for the better part of 20 years (yes there was an internet back in the early 90′s!)
In that time, I’ve produced a lot of material in several key locations. I’ve reviewed over 200 books in the last 5 years and been in the top 500 reviewers on Amazon.com. I’ve helped to moderate discussion boards at www.theshackbook.com and www.godandscience.org as canuckster1127 (my online handle). I’ve participated in public discussions on many themes that are of interest to me.
It seemed time to finally begin to bring some of this material into a central place for my convenience and also for the convenience of those online friends I’ve made over the years who may want to read and discuss some of the material.
Why a barometer? A barometer measures change in the atmosphere and is an indicator and what is to come. When I asked some of my on-line friends what to call this blog, this was a suggestion made by someone who noted that many of my posts and thoughts center upon change and what is coming. As I considered it, I had to agree that is a part of my thinking and analysis of things. So Bart’s Barometer it is!
I am originally from Canada and am now in the United States where I work as a senior consultant with a Big 4 firm to the Federal Government. In addition to the past 5 years in roles like this, I previously spent 20 years in different forms of formal ministry in evangelical churches as a Pastor, District Worker and Church Administrator.
I have 5 children spread over 14 years whom I love very deeply as well as my wife who has been a constant support and joy in our more than 25 years of marriage.
In addition to these things, I have a heart for Jesus Christ, organic church, organizational leadership and psychology (I’ve done Master of Science level studies in this), Change Management, Transformational Leadership and Biblical Studies. I’m a cancer survivor since July of 1986.
I enjoy writing and am willing to do freelance work as well. Contact me to serve you in this arena.

Hi,
I am doing Th.M. in Missions at Bangalore.India. I am doing a paper on History and mission work of C&MA in India and read your review , thought to connect with you for further discussion and if you have any added material which can help me.
Thanks.
James
Hi James,
Sorry to be slow responding. I’ve been on vacation the last week or so. I have several reviews up on C&MA material under my books review section. That may help you. Beyond that, I’m no longer a formal part of the C&MA and haven’t been for several years so I’m not really a current source beyond my opinions on the past present in those reviews.
Let me know if I can help more in that area.
Regards,
bart
Bart:
Thanks for your friend request on FB. I really enjoyed your thought-provoking review on Bo’s Cafe. Now, I’m gonna have to get onto Amazon and get a copy! Look forward to reading some more of your blog, and have the distinct feeling I’m going to be a regular here!
Blessings!

Hi Bart,
I’ve just come across you via facebook and enjoyed reading your discussion with a mutual friend about the US justice system – I found your comments well thought out and presented, and your writing style is very enjoyable. That made me aware of your blog, and I have just now enjoyed reading a couple of your blog posts, especially the review of “The Untold Story of the New Testament Church”, which I imagine I will purchase and read as a result.
I have sent you a friend request on facebook – perhaps you will consider to accept even though we don’t know each other, so that I can get your posts on my news feed.
Best wishes,
Paul
Pleasure to meet you Paul. I’ve accepted your friend request and look forward to knowing you better in the days ahead.
I say a comment you left on the Organic Church group on FB, and you said you were in the northern Virginia area. Same here. Would love to find out what’s going on regarding other organic church fellowships in the area. We have several in the Prince William County area. You can contact me through my blog, http://www.CrossroadJunction.com.
